Body image has become an increasingly popular problem within social media especially Instagram, so many teen girls, and young women are exposed to this on a daily basis. From pictures and comments on social media, we are exposed to what size or shape you have to be to look beautiful. The intention of this project is to create awareness of how social media can affect our self-esteem for teens and young women. The aim for the final collection was to create a spring/summer line for teens and young women apart of the millennial and post-millennial generations. The final collection was made to express this through textiles, creating body positivity using, positive body quotes, vibrant colours and creating silhouettes with clothes that did not have much shape to them. This was done intentionally to show that even without wearing tight clothing or figure-fitting styles, you can still look and feel beautiful no matter your shape.
